Here at shockcollarsfordogs.com, we sell a variety of dog shock collars, bark collars, and underground fence systems. While having several options to choose from can be a good thing, it can also be confusing, and maybe a little frustrating for some people because they aren't sure what they need, or what they should get. That's why I put together this dog shock collar reviews page. I'll review a few of my favorite collars, and hopefully this will make it a little easier for some of you to decide what shock collar device is best for you. So let's get started.
First, let's clarify something. A dog shock collar is a device used to help train your dog to behave properly, and helps to deter unwanted behaviors. A bark collar is a little different, because it only serves one purpose.....to stop barking. The shock collar requires input from the owner. That means you'll have to be there to correct/encourage the dog behavior you're trying to address. A bark collar doesn't require such input. You simply place the collar on the dog, and when he barks, the collar issues the correction automatically. So, if barking is your issue, get a bark collar. If dog training is what you're trying to do, get a dog training collar.
My favorite bark collar for small dogs is the SportDOG Rechargeable NoBark 10R Bark Control Collar. Some bark collars are activated by sound only, and will issue a correction if a bark from another dog is picked up. That won't happen with this Sportdog collar. This collar is only activated if a vibration from the dog's throat is picked up in addition to the sound of the bark itself. This pretty much eliminates any false corrections.
This Sportdog has three different training options. One, the collar increases the shock level beginning from the lowest level when your dog starts barking and then escalates eight levels until the dog stops. It then remembers the level necessary to stop the barking and commences at this same level the next time your dog begins barking. This is the default program.
The second program begins at the lowest level and escalates until your dog stops but reverts to the lowest level next time your dog starts barking.
The third program gives him the same shock each and every time he barks.
It fits both small and large dogs, and comes with a rechargeable battery. Some bark collars use proprietary batteries that can be hard to find locally, and are rather expensive when compared to the kind of batteries most people are familiar with. The collar is also waterproof, so if you have a dog that likes to take a swim every now and then, you're good to go. For my money, the Sportdog 10R is the way to go.
I'll be adding more dog shock collar reviews in the future, so bookmark this page for future updates. In the meantime, if you have any questions, shoot me an email, and I'll get back to you asap.
